From Leeds to Mongolia in a £450 Subaru Legacy!

When two students decided to raise money for charity by driving from Leeds to Mongolia, what car did they choose? None other than a Subaru Legacy! Ebay came up trumps and after relieving themselves of £450 they were the proud owners of a 1995 Legacy Estate 2.0 AWD finished in Wintergreen Metallic!

With Subaru's world renowned engineering, reliability and off road ability, the Legacy was the ideal steed for the job.

After doing the usual preparations in readiness for the notoriously rough and baron roads which are to be found in Mongolia, they soon realized that one spare wheel may not be enough for a 10,000 mile journey of this sort! Having precious little time left to prepare, Tom was soon in our showroom asking if we may be able to help. Routing through dusty corners in the darkest depths of our Parts Department, we soon stumbled upon two good steel wheels with tyres which we duly donated.

To compliment the lavish paint-job which the Legacy was now bearing, we also dug out some rare 'K T Green Motorsport' stickers. This would be sure to attract attention as they traversed the continents!

This epic journey was part inspired by the Mongol Rally, a group of intrepids who 'race' to Mongolia in very small cars for the thrill of the challenge and to raise money for charity. Although they were not taking part in the rally, Tom and Olly were still raising money for charity, Mercy Corps Mongolia, and the Masiphumelele Youth Project in Cape Town.

The trip took them across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia covering a total distance of around 10,000 miles. Once they had reached their destination, the car was donated so that it could be sold to raise money for a local charity.
