History
K T Green Ltd was founded by Kenneth Talbot Green in 1951. The original garage in Shipley was a franchised dealer for B.M.C. After Ken's death in 1966, son Chris took over the reigns and has done to the present day. A new garage, 'St Nicholas Motors' was setup in Burley-in-Wharfedale from 1976 to 1985 with the Honda franchise. Meanwhile the Shipley site saw a change of franchise to Alfa Romeo. Chris recalls many happy memories at both sites. Infact, some of the employees who worked for us in those early days are still with us today!
As the business continued to grow and the Subaru and Isuzu franchises were acquired, a larger premesis was required. The existing garages in Shipley and Burley-in-Wharfedale were sold to fund the move to The White Garage in Bramhope in 1984, the site from which we have operated to this day.
At the time Subaru was a little known manufacturer, only heard of around the farming communities where it's 4x4 credentials were appreciated. Isuzu, the sister brand of Subaru was also taken on at the same time. We are now one of the longest standing dealers for these two marques, totalling over 25 years experience.
After 15 years at The White Garage, it was decided that extensive modernisation would be required if we were to stay with the times and move into the next Millenium. The old petrol forecourt was knocked down in readiness for a substantial showroom and workshop extension, along with numerous other changes. In 2003 Daihatsu was added to our portfolio due to it's appeal of producing small, affordable, environmentally friendly cars which sat well alongside the Subaru and Isuzu range. More recently, in 2007 we were appointed the only Northern dealer for Westfield Sportscars. We now have what we would consider to be an exceptional lineup of cars, with something to suit every type of driver and lifestyle.
